Palm with an elegant, slender stem, covered in the top section by the leaf bases. The leaves, organised in a summitale crown are large, fan shaped with a diameter of more than 1m., formed in thin sections, deeply etched and strongly recurve towars the ground. Flowers are yellow green, gathered in long, branching inflorescences. The fruit is round, smooth, shiny and about 2 cm. across.
