    Shrub or small tree, medium to large with rising branches, often with a red stem, hardy. The leaves are dark green, long and lance-shaped, leathery. Flowers grow at the top of branches, perfumed and of many colours. They may be single or double. The seeds are in pods which hold several, packed with red down.
